You might feel overlooked. Maybe you’ve always thought of yourself as naturally quiet. But is that right? After all, you can be so uninhibited with your friends. In groups, though – especially around men and authority figures – when you do speak up, it often comes out wrong. It’s either too meek or too forceful, and people don’t respond as you’d hoped.
So, you stay in the background, taking care of others. You’re really good at it, and it’s nice to be needed… but it would be nice if someone would think of you, too, instead of just expecting your help all the time (though you do always say yes), and maybe offer to support you once in a while (though you couldn’t accept it if it were offered)…
Okay, you know that’s a mixed signal, but it’s confusing. You’re so used to prioritizing others, living according to their needs and opinions, that you’ve lost touch with what you want. To be totally honest, sometimes you feel unsure of who you are.
You notice people who take up space so easily. How do they do it? Where does their self-belief come from?
You know you want more – to be freer, bigger, more influential, looked up to, and – as long as we’re dreaming – cherished. But is it selfish to want more? Won’t that upset things – inconvenience, or even hurt, the people who depend on you?
